New Poppy Pod Necklace

Over the holidays I picked up this poppy pod from a friend who had collected them in the fall. I knew I wanted to make a piece of jewelry out of it but wasn’t sure what. I thought of using just the top part (the center of the flower, which faces down on the necklace) but in the end decided that I wanted a slide pendant of the whole pod. I think all of it is pretty! It’s fairly small, so the weight (because it’s solid) is not a problem- just 3/4″ or 18 mm (this includes the little looped bail at top.) I thought an 18″ chain looked best but I’m planning on offering it with other chain lengths and with a bright/polished finish (this is the dark/oxidized version.)
